Endocrine and General Surgeon
Dr Toby Hulf is an Endocrine and General Surgeon at Mater Private Hospital, Townsville, and Townsville University Hospital. Dr Hulf graduated from The University of Sydney and completed his formative junior doctor years in the Northern Territory, before moving to Queensland and completing his specialist General Surgery training. Dr Hulf undertook advanced training in General and Endocrine Surgery at Western Health in Melbourne, then at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals in Oxford, UK. Dr Hulf is a board-certified Endocrine Surgeon, having successfully completed the fellowship and examination requirements of the European Board of Surgery. He has an interest in benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Dr Hulf uses neuromonitoring during all his neck procedures and emphasises safeguarding vocal function in voice professionals. Dr Hulf has a strong interest in functional and non-functional growths of the adrenal glands, and minimally invasive approaches to their management. In addition, Dr Hulf manages general surgical conditions including gallbladder, hernias, skin and soft tissue, and acute general surgery.
Dr Hulf is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons. Dr Hulf maintains a strong interest in research, having completed his PhD studying the molecular genetics of cancer. His current research focuses on diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
